Associate Professor of Theatre

Anne Levy

Received her BA and MA in English Literature from Oakland University; J.D. from Wayne State University; and MA in Theatre from Michigan State University.

Joining the theatre faculty in 2007, Anne is also an associate professor in the College of Business where she teaches law and ethics. She is the Founder, President, and Executive Director of The Phoenix Players, a non-profit theatre company in South Lyon, Michigan and has been involved in theatre in all areas of acting and production for over 50 years. Before forming her most recent company, she was the President of The Livingston Players, the oldest community theatre company in the state of Michigan.

Anne’s major interest in theatre is now in directing. Recent adult productions have included: The Unexpected Guest, Plaza Suite, Ten Little Indians, Love Letters, The Mousetrap, Murder on the Nile. She also has directed a number of youth theatre productions, including two recent plays by The Phire Phlies, the youth acting ensemble of The Phoenix Players: The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf and The New Adventures of Dorothy in Oz. As an actor, Anne has been featured most recently in the cast of such productions as: The Miracle Worker, Steel Magnolias, Ten Little Indians, The Odd Couple-Female Version, Dilemmas With Dinner, Squabbles, Love, Sex, and the IRS, and Thurber Carnival.

In addition, Anne is an experienced children’s acting coach and leader of theatre workshops for young people.
